NEWS / 70th Anniversary of the Defence of Cowes 4th-7th May 2012

The Polish Naval vessel ORP Torun moored off Cowes for the Bank Holiday weekend to join in the 70th Anniversary of the Defence of Cowes. It was 70 years ago when the Polish destroyer ORP Blyskawica and her ships company defended Cowes from enemy air attack. OPR Blyskawica was built in Cowes in 1935 and at the time of the air raid was in Cowes for a refit.

The Parker 1000 Baltic SeaSafari rib, known as Solent Voyager which is operating from Cowes had the privilege to ferry the crew to and from the celebrations.
